General Information
While recreational use remains illegal with possession penalties, limited exception exists for low-THC hemp extract for specific epilepsy cases. However, Senate Bill S3, the NC Compassionate Care Act, proposes establishing a comprehensive medical marijuana program. The bill is still under consideration as of January 2024.
